About Civil Air Patrol
CAP is a non-profit organization and the US Air Force auxiliary. CAP has three missions: Cadet Programs, Emergency Services, and Aerospace Education.
Cadet Programs involves teaching leadership, followership, discipline, integrity, responsibility, and respect to the youth of today. There are activities available to cadets (ages 12-21) that are not available to the public.
Emergency Services can involve searching for a missing aircraft in the middle of the woods to taking aerial photos of disaster sites for the government and other agencies to use. CAP members learn valuable field survival and searching skills. Through Emergency Services, CAP saves lives every year.
Aerospace Education is the third mission of CAP. CAP is chartered by the US Congress to teach Aerospace. This can involve building a small rocket or lessons in classroom. CAP members are also allowed to fly with one of CAP's many certified pilots at no cost.
