About First National Bank South Dakota
First National Bank South Dakota- We're the One.
In 1962, 'Valley State Bank' was chartered in Yankton, South Dakota. Valley State Bank was considered a hometown bank, serving the city of Yankton and its surrounding areas. The bank started with a total capitalization of only $300,000.
In the early 1980s, Valley State Bank was purchased by First National of Nebraska, Inc., owned primarily by the Lauritzen Family. This incorporation led to many changes, including the construction of a new facility and a name change to 'First National Bank South Dakota' in 1994. Originally as an anchor for the bank's credit card division, the bank gained momentum of its own and became a market leader.
In 1999, First National Bank South Dakota purchased Commercial Bank of Mitchell, Huron, and Woonsocket.
