Smith, Dukes & Buckalew, LLP ("SD&B") traces its beginnings to the early 1900s and the firm of Rosson & Smith. When Alabama passed its first Certified Public Accountancy law in 1919, Mr. George T. Rosson was awarded Certificate No. 1 and Mr. Walter K. Smith was awarded Certificate No. 3. Out of Rosson & Smith came the partnership Smith, Dukes & Buckalew - formed on October 31, 1933 by Walter K. Smith, Fred L. Smith, Gilbert F. Dukes and Vardaman M. Buckalew.
Over the years, SD&B has been significant in the development of public accountancy in the city of Mobile and the state of Alabama.
