Sergimmo Salumeria complements these other stores [like Eataly] in that we are all bringing traditions of artisanal food of regional Italy to America and Americans. The difference is, we are not a gourmet-food emporium. We are the equivalent of the local 'salumi' store found in every Italian town and village and city in Italy," notes Sergio Badalamenti, who owns the shop along with his brother Massimo. "Most Americans think they know real Italian food, but stores like ours are opening the eyes of not just foodies but whole communities of people wanting to experience the real food of Italy."
