House of Guitars opened in Effingham in the winter of 1996 and was the fulfillment of a life-long dream. It's owner, Bruce Rohr, felt he had learned enough from his 9 years in the music business (including 4 years managing Heartland Music) to strike out on his own. As he realized early on that your average musician is not 'made of money' he made it his goal to keep the prices very friendly and try his best to give local musicians some real 'bang for their bucks'.
