In Westchester County, New York, you can find a town called Pelham. It is a small town that consists of two villages, Pelham and Pelham Manor. The town was purchased by Thomas Pell in 1654 from the Siwanoy Native Americans. He then named the manor Pelham to honor Pelham Burton, his tutor. The town of Pelham wasn't incorporated until March of 1788. The town used to consist of Pelham Bay Park. It was later reduced in size in 1895 to its current boundaries. Today you can find many homes and businesses flourishing throughout Pelham, New York.
