Sky WindPower is developing Flying Electric Generators (FEGs) to enable conversion of the vast, persistent energy in high altitude winds into abundant clean power. These rotorcraft rise like helicopters to where sufficient wind enables their seamless transition to simultaneously acting as kites riding on the wind and acting as windmills to generate up to utility scale electricity. Power flows to the grid via anchoring tethers. In addition FEGs can act as airborne platforms for carrying various sensors and communication equipment on board at specified altitudes above the ground.
