Signing Autistic Lives provides therapeutic instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) to autistic children and their families to facilitate communication and improve quality of life. While ASL is not a universal solution, this visual language is an empowering tool for many autistic individuals, creating genuine communication and providing a transition to spoken language. No cumbersome equipment is required --signing can be utilized anytime, anywhere. Results are quickly observable, and the level of signing used is intuitive and easy to learn. As the only provider of ASL instruction specifically targeting autism in the Southeast Georgia/Northeast Florida region, we seek to provide an alternative or complement to more expensive and time-intensive interventions.
