About Federal Coal Company
Family owned business for over 80 years that leases large parcels of land to companies that specialize in the extraction of natural resources.
Founded in 1918 by the current owner's great grandfather, Federal Coal Co. basically owns and then leases out to its various tenants thousands of acres of land located throughout southern West Virginia. Overall, the extraction of Mother Earth's natural minerals is actually accomplished by lessees who in turn are responsible for the care and reclamation of the land upon completion of their work. Having never been cited for any violations concerning its land, Federal Coal Co. is proud to be a upstanding member of the network of responsible land owners who have always returned the land to the way it was prior to the extraction of the minerals located underground as well as replacing any and all trees that have been timbered in order to continue the natural growth of its younger trees.
