About Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre
Drive-in movie theatre
We are the oldest operating drive-in theatre in the state of NC. In 2009 The Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre was 60 years old. It was originally called The Moon-glo and opened for business on July 15, 1949. In 1977 the original owner, Sonny Stevenson sold the theatre to the Lyles Family. The sale of the theatre required that The Moon-glo name would not be transferred with the new owner, thus the theatre was named Raleigh Road for Business US Rt 1 (Raleigh Road) that passes by the theatre. We are a 265 car capacity theatre with a concession stand that serves the standard theatre snacks (popcorn, etc.) but also hot meals (hamburgers and fries). We operate on a year round basis, weekends only in the Fall, Winter and Spring months, full time in the summer. We are a single screen theatre.
